Dampak Covid-19 dalam Dunia Pendidikan

Virus Covid-19 sudah menjadi ancaman yang nyata di berbagai sektor di Indonesia salah satunya adalah Sektor Pendidikan. Hal ini membuat semua sekolah dan perguruan tinggi terpaksa harus “dirumahkan” untuk belajar secara jarak jauh / virtual. Dari kejadian ini, apa saja dampak jangka pendek dan jangka panjang apabila pandemik Covid-19 di Indonesia belum dapat dikendalikan?

Dampak yang paling nyata adalah bermacam kegiatan program studi komparatif ke luar negeri (overseas) terpaksa harus dibatalkan demi mencegah penyebaran Covid-19. Hal ini membuat mahasiswa yang mendapatkan beasiswa atau kesempatan pertukaran pelajar di luar negeri tidak dapat berangkat untuk belajar di negara lain.

Selain itu, Sekolah Dasar hingga Sekolah Menengah Atas dan Perguruan Tinggi pun ditutup dan siswa / mahasiswanya harus belajar di rumah. Penutupan ini tentu menghambat dan memperlambat target yang ditetapkan oleh pemerintah atau sekolah masing masing.

Namun dengan penutupan sekolah dan Perguruan Tinggi, bukan berarti siswa dan mahasiswa libur dan tidak belajar. Sekolah dan Perguruan Tinggi dapat menggunakan teknologi Learning Management System (LMS) sehingga siswa dan mahasiswa tetap bisa melakukan kegiatan belajar secara jarak jauh.

Selain itu dengan adanya LMS, mahasiswa dapat mengakses bahan kuliah, mengumpulkan tugas, ataupun melakukan ujian secara online.

Saat ini, ditengah keterpaksaan untuk Belajar dari Rumah, LMS adalah solusi yang sangat diperlukan. Namun apakah sistem LMS yang digunakan terjamin ketersediaannya?

Banyak siswa dan mahasiswa yang mengeluhkan ketersediaan sistem e-learning yang digunakan, salah satunya adalah sistem down ketika mereka akan melakukan pengumpulan tugas atau melakukan absen di e-learning, hal ini membuat siswa dan mahasiswa merasa terganggu dalam kegiatan belajar.

Dengan banyaknya permintaan akses dari jumlah user aktif, peran infrastruktur sangatlah vital, baik dari sisi server, storage, ataupun perangkat keras lainnya. Pihak sekolah / kampus sebaiknya (seharusnya) menyediakan Infrastruktur dengan spesifikasi yang dapat menangani permintaan akses dalam jumlah banyak (reliable), infrastruktur yang harus selalu tersedia (available), dan infrastruktur dengan keamanan data yang terjamin (secure).

Dengan kemampuan scalable, dalam arti sumber daya perangkat dapat menyesuaikan (atau disesuaikan secara manual) dengan permintaan akses. Network

Network yang terhubung ke infrastuktur juga perlu diperhatikan. Dengan menyediakan main dan back-up network, jaminan ketersediaan layanan LMS untuk mahasiswa semakin meningkat.

Mereka perlu menyiapkan infrastruktur yang dapat mengatasi lonjakan pengguna aktif sistem e-learning sehingga ketersediaan sistem tersebut terjamin dan siswa / mahasiswa dapat melakukan kegiatan belajar tanpa terganggu.
